You’re taught to compete. To crush. To win. But the agents crushing it in Ventura County aren’t doing it alone. They have a crew—people who actually get it

It is easy to feel like you are on an island in this business. We are told to crush the competition, grind 24/7, and treat every other agent in Ventura County like a threat. But trying to carry the weight of a six-figure real estate career entirely on your own is a fast track to burnout.

The truth is, the agents who are actually thriving right now are not doing it alone. They have a small circle of people who truly understand the daily chaos of this industry.

Back in the spring of 2025, I hit a massive wall and felt completely stuck. Instead of locking myself in my office to grind harder, I invited three local agents out for coffee just to talk shop. That one afternoon completely changed my perspective, and one of those agents even connected me with a buyer who is still on my books today.

Building your network does not have to be a calculated strategic play. It starts with simple, human actions.

You can show up to the weekly VCCAR Marketing Meetings to chat with people pitching listings in Ventura and Oxnard. If you are closer to Thousand Oaks or Simi Valley, grab a coffee and head to the CSMAR Caravan tours. You can also look into groups like the Women’s Council of REALTORS® Ventura County or local Score Ventura County workshops to find mentors who are ready to lock arms with you.

You do not have to view everyone as a competitor to win in this market.

The permission you need: It is completely okay to build a business by lifting people up instead of trying to step over them.
